The Site Services Engineer will be responsible for the effective and efficient provision or both planned & unplanned maintenance activities on our factory services. These will include the scheduled checks associated with Chillers, Compressors, Water Chemical Treatment, Filtration systems, Power management and all other fundamental site infrastructure required in the provision of services to our manufacturing plant. In addition, this important role will directly liase with contractors, suppliers and accreditation bodies such as the BSI to manage and co-ordinate 3rd party intervention in both a planned and reactive capacity.
You will be an apprentice trained mechanical or electrical engineer although ideally equally demonstrative in both disciplines. Your approach to fault finding and problem solving will be based on technical knowledge and experience but will be methodical and analytical in approach. You will be a good communicator with a reasonable level of computer and general literacy, enabling efficient information handovers and clarification of both issues and solutions to others.
You will be responsible for the safety of yourself and others in your day to day activities so a working knowledge of relevant health and safety guidelines, regulations and legislation is essential.
§ Effectively prioritise your workload to maintain plant and equipment at the required levels.
§ Daily, weekly, monthly inspections and recording of key plant parameters
§ Fault-finding and diagnosis of breakdowns.
§ Follow and develop existing maintenance procedures which meets the operational requirements of the business.
§ Ensure that all plant, equipment, buildings and infrastructure are maintained in accordance with current health, safety, environmental and equipment legislation and standards.
§ Help to provide a safe working environment for employees, ensuring compliance with current Health, Safety and Environmental policies and safe systems of work.
§ Maintain effective cross-departmental communication.
§ Actively work to create and promote ideas which will improve the performance of the plant and equipment.
§ Management of thermographic surveys and planning remedial work.
§ Site responsible person for Legionella control in line with ACOP L8 guidelines.
§ Development & management of screw & barrel register
§ Co-ordination of site water treatment & testing programs to include drainage, interceptor systems.
§ Hazardous waste management to include Batteries, fluorescent tubes, WEEE, Oil, Contaminated waste
§ Management of compressors, driers and chilled water cooling systems
§ Energy consumption, monitoring and management (electricity & air)
§ Power saver unit and power factor correction management
§ Vacuum system management for extrusion
§ Material handling and vacuum system management
§ Insurance inspections and system management of LEV, HVAC, Lifting equipment, pressure vessels, PAT testing, MEWP, Crane etc
§ Coordination of site specific BSI 14001 activities
§ Noise, Lighting & Air quality assessments
§ Internal, External & Emergency light management
§ Contractor inductance, permits and management of RAMS
§ HV transformer, switchgear and PF equipment management
§ Building maintenance to include: Doors, fabric, roadways, perimeters, plumbing, grounds maintenance etc.
