HR Manager (Legal)
London
£50-£60k

Working for one of Londons’ top Law Firms you will be a confident HR Manager, who is straight talking, but also a trusted advisor to the Partners and Senior Management, who can provide day-to-day operational and strategic support to the departments.

Working in collaboration with the other HR Managers and the HR Director on team projects and initiatives.

Responsibilities/Duties
- Having a deep understanding and interest in your client group's practice areas, business plans and on-going objectives and understanding the role HR plays in meetings these objectives.
- Effectively supporting the Partners and Managers in implementing HR policies or initiatives which support their objectives.
- Influence and engage and be an effective and integral member of the HR department and the groups you support.
- Work in partnership with the Learning and Development team to support the on-going training and development of our people.
- Keep abreast of relevant employment legislation and manage any disciplinary, grievance or performance-related issues for all employees.
- Manage more complex employee relations issues for the Departments.
- Continuously review team structures, operations and working practices and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Work closely with the Heads of Department in managing the salary review and bonus processes.
- Work in collaboration with the Reward Manager in data preparation, analysis and letter production for the annual bonus and salary review processes.
- Manage all aspects of staff resourcing and development including implementation of the Firm's performance management, assessment of training requirements and identification of high potential candidates for promotion.
- Working in partnership with the business and the recruitment team to ensure that recruitment protocol is followed and resourcing needs of the departments you support are met.
- Work in partnership with the Heads of Department and Director of HR on Partner recruitment including; arranging interviews and managing the new joiner process for senior hires, linking in with the recruitment team where necessary.
- Lead where necessary on ensuring that effective processes and procedures are being followed in relation to the employee life-cycle (i.e. recruitment, joiner and leaver process, and implementation of family friendly policies). Ensure that best practice is followed.
- Provide guidance to the HR Advisor/Assistant on key processes such as payroll and work in partnership with them to continuously look at ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of such processes.
- Contribute and actively lead on HR projects and other team initiatives

Skills/Attributes
- Experience working within a law firm or a professional services environment previously is a must for this role. Your application will not be considered if you do not have this.
- A professional and commercial approach to HR, with the ability to deliver high employee satisfaction, appropriate development and management of juniors.
- Experience of dealing with senior stakeholders and providing strategic advice.
- An agile and flexible thinker with the ability to solve problems quickly and creatively.
- Confident directing and advising managers on all aspects of people management and development.
- Demonstrable experience in managing redundancy and or other relevant HR projects.
- Strong understanding of employment law.
- Have a CIPD or equivalent qualification.
- Able to prioritise and meet/manage deadlines.
